Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Dangal is a biopic film based on the life of a national wrestler, Mahavir Singh Phogat. It is an honest story of a determined father and his dutiful daughters who can do anything to become world class wrestlers and make India proud. The movie has many amazing moments which are sure to make you fire up with emotions.

The film starts with a wrestling match between the newly married national wrestling champion, Mahavir Singh Phogat (Aamir Khan) and a state champion in their office to show their respective powers. Mahavir wins. He wishes so eagerly to train his son and make him world’s best wrestler. But to his disappointment, he and his wife could never have a baby boy. He loved his daughters, Geeta and Babita Phogat (Fatima Sana Shaikh, Sanya Malhotra) dearly, but always believed that his son will make him and India proud.

However, when one day Geeta and Babita beat-up some boys very badly, he realizes that he was wrong and women too could fight. He transforms into the ‘Haanikaarak Bapu’ and gives them a tough training, even when the girls retaliated too much. Geeta’s strength gives her confidence to fight in the real ‘Dangal’ with the boys; and earn a lot of money and appreciation from the people. She eventually winsthe sub-junior, junior and the state level championship; and finally becomes a national winner in wrestling. Her father couldn’t be prouder than this. But, for competing at the international level, she had to join the National Sports Academy, Patiala.

Geeta’s new life in the academy distracts her from her goals. She eventually gets separated from her father and goes on with her pride. Her new coach is an egomaniac who thinks that he teaches the best, but he couldn’t figure out the real strength of Geeta. Mahavir doesn’t lose his hope and continues to coach Geeta and Babita against the sports committee wishes. After losing many international matches, Geeta apologizes to her father and swears to make his dream turn into reality and finally wins a gold medal in the 2010 Commonwealth Games.

The movie in itself is an inspiration to all those families who take a step back because of their incapability. If we have a will to fight, there’s nothing that can stop us. And Aamir’s perfect performance in the movie makes this fact a reality. Yes, Dangal is a must watch!
