At a wedding, a woman is performing and her daughter watches her sing and dance in front of a large audience. A drunkard carrying a rifle starts misbehaving with her and next we hear is a gunshot followed by a blank screen. The next scene shows a leap of 12 years and now this little girl is known as ‘Anaarkali of Aarah’ (Swara Bhaskar). She sways flawlessly in Aarah (Bihar) and entertains people with her ‘double meaning’ sexy songs. People, in general, calls her “Aarah waali Anarkaliya”. Her power-packed crackling “thumkaas”, innuendo-laden lines and rowdy appearance attracts many people from far-off distances and they all come especially to see her.

Anaarkali is gutsy, confident, knows her craft and maintains a sense of dignity (which of course people know very well). She knows when to draw a line when people try to grope her during or after her performances. She is dedicated to her working partners aka. “mandli” and Rangeela (Pankaj Tripathi) is one of her closest friends and confidant. But, her life takes a 180 degree turn when a pervert vice chancellor (Sanjay Mishra) tries to molest her. She is sure to teach this lecherous VC a lesson.

Anaarkali slaps him, much to the discomfort of her manager, Rangeela (Pankaj Tripathi), who asks her to apologise to Chauhan and make peace with him. But Anaarkali is in no mood for a settlement and goes to the police station to lodge a complaint. However, police inspector Chulbul Pandey (Vijay Kumar) is a paid stooge of the vice chancellor and refuses to file her complaint. Rather, he frames Anaarkali on charges of prostitution and arrests her. Rangeela bails Anarkali out and takes her to Chauhan to settle matters. But Anaarkali is unrelenting. Soon, Anaarkali is forced to leave Aarah when Chauhan, Chulbul Pandey and their men don’t let her live in peace.

Accompanied by her trusted friend, Anwar (Mayur More), she comes to Delhi and struggles to record her songs. A studio owner (Nitin Arora) gives her a break as a singer after his agent, Hiraman Tiwari (Ishteyak Khan), pleads with him. But Anarkali’s joy is short lived as Chauhan’s men track her down in Delhi. Anaarkali is once again arrested. It is then that she enters into a pact with the vice chancellor Dharmender Chauhan. But what follows in her life is only hatred and dirtiness because at the end, she’s just a street dancer who isn’t considered respectable in the society.
