Varun Dhawana and Alia Bhatt now the Lead Pair of Shuddhi

One movie which has made so much noise ever since its announcement and much before it has gone into production is Karan Johar's magnum opus 'Shuddhi', mostly because of the speculations over the actors who will play the lead roles in the movie.

Initially, Hrithik Roshan and Kareena Kapoor were finalised to play the leads, who later bowed out of the project citing prior commitments. Then Karan Johar wanted to cast Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone, which also did not materialise as the duo was chosen by Sanjay Leela Bhansali for ‘Goliyon Ki Rasleela – Ram-Leela’ and were subsequently also finalised by Bhansali for his next venture 'Bajirao Mastani'.

Finally, it was Salman Khan who agreed to play the lead role in Shuddhi, and speculations were rife over the actress to be cast opposite the 'Dabbang' star. It was widely speculated that Deepika Padukone could be the lead actress; fans would have loved to see the two big stars to come together on screen for the very first time.

Now due to the recent hearing of Salman Khan hit-and-run case and uncertainty over his availability, Salman Khan has opted out of the project. Karan Johar has finally gone ahead and finalised his 'students' Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt for the lead roles in Shuddhi. This will be 'Humpty' Varun and his 'Dulhaniya' Alia's third film together after 'Student of the Year' and 'Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhaniya'.

Salman Khan tweeted his support for Varun bagging the role "Kamaal karte ho Varun Dhawan...made ur dad n me so proud of u... happy Shhuddhi".!!!
