Prem Ratan Dhan Payo
Salman Khan's ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’, recorded the highest first day income for any Bollywood film this year, beating his own film, ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’. This Diwali release takes the top spot of movies which had great opening at the box office. The movie witnessed a smashing start at the box office grossing Rs. 40.35 crore on the opening day. Directed by Sooraj Barjatya, the movie featured Sonam Kapoor, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Anupam Kher and Swara Bhaskar in pivotal roles.
‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ is on the second number in the list. Salman Khan was in the lead role in the flick, which had hit the right chord with the audience and collected a whopping Rs. 27.25 crore on the opening day. Salman's portrayal of innocent Hanuman bhakt “Pawan” in the film was appreciated by all, and it was one of the highest grossing films of the year. Directed by Kabir Khan, the film also featured Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Harshaali Malhotra and Kareena Kapoor Khan.
The recently released film of Shahrukh Khan, inspite of protests at several places, managed to be on the third number in this list! There were cancellation of shows and also screens got divided because of ‘Bajirao Mastani’, but still Shahrukh Khan-Kajol starrer gathered Rs. 21 crore. Directed by Rohit Shetty, the movie also featured Varun Dhawan, Kriti Sanon, Varun Sharma and Boman Irani. The star power of the film helped it the most in collecting money!
Singh Is Bliing
‘Singh Is Bliing’ was Akshay Kumar’s highly anticipated action comedy film in 2015 and got the fantastic opening collection all over the world! The flick received an enormous response at the box office, and takes the fourth position in the list. It collected Rs.20.67 crore on its opening day, and managed to captivate the audience over the weekend. Directed by Prabhudheva, the film also featured Ami Jackson and Lara Dutta in important roles.
The official remake of the 2011 Hollywood film, Warrior starring Akshay Kumar and Sidharth Malhotra, opened to a considerable amount of Rs 15.20 crore on its first day! The movie did a decent business in the Overseas too. Directed by Karan Malhotra, the film also featured Jacqueline Fernandez and Jackie Shroff in important roles.
