The most unlikely 'Hit Jodi' of Bollywood – Akshay Kumar and Neeraj Pandey

Neeraj Pandey is one of the most talented director/film makers in Bollywood today. All his films, starting from ‘A Wednesday’, have been critically praised. He takes a great off-beat idea and turns it into a commercial success. What’s great about a director like him is that he doesn’t compromise on his vision and originality just to shell out a box office success. In his small career as a director, the actor he has most worked with is Akshay Kumar.

Thanks to Neeraj Pandey, Akshay has done some of his best work in the last few years. There was a time when it was hard to imagine Akshay in a serious, low budget, non-commercial film. He has always been the action hero or a comedy actor and been a part of big budget masala films. With Neeraj Pandey’s help he has been able to break that image. Their association started with ‘Special 26’ in 2013. And their latest film together is ‘Rustom’ where Neeraj is the producer. Below is the list of all the films the duo has collaborated on:

‘Special 26’ - 2013

Special 26 was the first collaboration between Akshay and Neeraj. It was also the second directorial venture of Neeraj after the highly acclaimed ‘A Wednesday’. The film is a heist crime thriller where a team of cons pose as CBI officers and execute an income tax raid on a jewellery shop in Mumbai. The film is inspired by the real life events of the 1987 Opera House heist. ‘Special 26’ did well at the box office with Rs 103 crore and was considered as one of the best films of 2013.
