Too much crying makes Aamir lose his aura!

Story:

The actor Aamir Khan returns with his Dangal co-star Zaira Wasim in Advait Chandan's directorial debut. Secret Superstar tells the story of a Muslim school girl who dreams of becoming the country's star singer. Insu struggles as she battles her father's conservatism at home who is an alcoholic and the chicanery of the singing world. Aamir plays loud music director Shakti Kumaar who mentors Insu in her singing career. Insu makes use of YouTube wearing a burka and becomes a sensation overnight, as her first anonymous video breaks the Internet.

Review:

Aamir Khan is the perfectionist that the Indian film industry has boasted of, for too long now. The actor has always put out pieces that the industry has been proud of even when it was their competition. But, this new piece of his work, reminds us of every anti climatic, melodramatic, inspirational movie, made in Bollywood ever.

We love the story, that finds a balance in itself somewhere. It showcases the typical male child driven mentality of India, but, it then also shows how a few things have been made better, and Insu has to practically fish out a burkha to make her YouTube videos.

We do like Shakti Kumaar’s character. It provides a change from the film’s otherwise sad track.

Both Vij as the mother and Arjun as the father are terrific, especially the latter, who doesn’t put a foot wrong. Zaira Wasim is a gem that is getting polished with every second she spends in front of the camera, and the director has used her to the most of her abilities.

It is definitely a movie that you should step out for this weekend, but don’t keep your expectations of it sky high.

Bollypedia Rating: 3 stars

  • 2017 might have been a bad year for Bollywood, considering the bad movies, and the scarce Box Office collections that the movies made. Also, the controversies surrounding the movies this year, did them more harm than good. But, there are still a few movies from 2017, that we would watch again someday.
  • We have all heard struggle stories of our favourite celebrities, some have been waiters, and some might have been junior artists. But, too many have been backup dancers. From a field that has potentially more than a million people in it, these stars shone so brightly, that they became the cream of Bollywood. These stars started their journey with dancing behind superstars and are now working with them.
  • Bollywood is filled with people, who excel at acting. But other than acting and the storyline, there is another thing that makes our films blockbusters. Dancing! Bollywood movies are filled with dancers. Some dance like they have two left feet, but some, dance like there is no tomorrow. These are the dancers, we are paying a tribute to today.
  • Madame Tussauds is a gem in the age of modern museums, and the capital has become the lucky holder of this gem. Delhiites have become a part of the lucky few, who can now visit these lifelike celebrity wax statues. But, our favourite part is the amazing resemblance, and in some cases the disparity, of these wax figurines.
  • You fall in love and vow to spend the rest of your life with each other. Such is the beauty of a marriage. The end, however, is not always as beautiful. Blame it on fame, gorgeous looks or the fact that cupid's arrows strike again and again in the glamour world, but Bollywood couples have to face the ugly truth of infidelity, divorces, and break-ups ever so often.
  • In Bollywood, there was a time, when supporting actors did not receive the appreciation they do now. They were looked at as mere pawns to make the lead look good. But times have changed, and talented artists have taken these so called side roles, and evolved them into the backbone of the films. They are now taking the limelight, and sometimes even overshadow the leads.
