‘Rustom’ is a crime-mystery biopic film based on true events. The Nanavati murder case shook the nation back in the 50s and it definitely makes an interesting plot for a film. With a strong ensemble cast and the return of Neeraj Pandey- Akshay Kumar collaboration, ‘Rustom’ is expected to shake the audiences.
The nail biting suspense
‘Rustom’ is a biopic of naval officer, K.M. Nanavati. The murder case was the centre of a huge media frenzy in the 50s. From the look of the trailer, the suspense looks nail biting. Will Rustom be convicted for his crimes or will the public sympathy save him? Watch the film to find out.
Another point to be considered is that every time Akshay Kumar has played an officer, he has done a commendable job and those films too have done well at the Box Office. Will he be this time lucky as well? That is yet to be seen. But it is definitely a point in favour of the film.
Akshay Kumar’s neat and suave look with a thin moustache portraying a naval officer in the 50s is spot on. This is for the first time ever that he will be seen portraying the role of a naval officer.
Ileana looks pretty in her 50s look. This isn’t the first time she is in a costume/ period drama (remember ‘Barfi!’), but unlike her bubbly, girl-next door roles before, she will be seen in a very serious role in the film.
Esha Gupta will be seen playing a villain for the first time. With short hair and bold outfits, she nails the look of a sexy villain.
The album of the film has already topped the charts. Songs like Tere Sang Yaara sung by Atif Aslam, released on 6th July and Rustom Vahi, released on 13th July, are already popular among the audiences. Other notable songs are Tay Hai and Dil Ki Sifarish.
Adorable on-screen Chemistry
The pairing of Akshay Kumar and Ileana D’Cruz will be seen for the very first time on screen in ‘Rustom’. The two look great together and the chemistry is sizzling. It would be interesting to see if that continues in the entire length of the film as well.
Re-creating 50’s era magic
‘Rustom’ is based in the 50’s. From what we could see from the trailers and the stills, the makers have put in a lot of effort in recreating the 50s in the best way they could. From the hairstyles to vintage cars to the interiors, a lot of research seems to have gone behind giving the film an authentic 50s feel.
The Perfect Duo of Neeraj Pandey and Akshay Kumar
Neeraj Pandey and Akshay Kumar have given us some amazing films in the past – ‘Baby’ and ‘Special 26’. Both were critically acclaimed and are some of the best films of Akshay Kumar in the recent years. Like ‘Special 26’, ‘Rustom’ is also based on true events. Let us hope they both are third time lucky as well.
‘Rustom’ has seen support from the film industry like no other film before. Bollywood stars are coming out and speaking about the film.
Arjun Kapoor posted a video stating why you should watch ‘Rustom’.
Sonakshi Sinha too posted a video where she is playing drums to the film’s song, Tere Sang Yaara and she ended the video with, “7 days to Rustom”
Ranveer Singh shared a throwback photo with Akshay and a video of himself dancing to an old Akshay Kumar song. He even called himself ‘Chupa Rustom’.
Salman Khan and Karan Johar too have been public about their support of the film.
The lead actors of the film – Akshay Kumar, Ileana D’Cruz and Esha Gupta have been inseparable throughout their promotional tour of the film. The three have been dedicatedly promoting the film together at colleges, events etc. They have left no stone unturned to get the word out for their film.
