A Love Triangle! Rangoon is not a biopic, says Vishal Bhardwaj

Kangana Ranaut, Shahid Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan starrer ‘Rangoon’ is all set to hit the big screens on February 24, 2017. According to the reports, the movie is based on the World War II and is a biopic.

Directed by National-Award winning filmmaker, Vishal Bhardwaj, Rangoon is a period drama and set in the 1940s amidst the turmoil of India's independence struggle and includes some historic references. Earlier, there were reports that the movie is a biopic, but Vishal Bhardwaj has denied the same.

"'Rangoon' is a love triangle set in the era of the Second World War. We have tried to create the ethos of the era but it's a work of fiction," said Vishal Bhardwaj.

A Love Triangle! Rangoon is not a biopic, says Vishal Bhardwaj

Vishal further added, "It certainly doesn't follow the life of any of the various actresses of that era be it that of Fearless Nadia, Miss Zebunissa, Miss Padma or Ramola. 'Rangoon' is a period drama that has a love triangle in its centre, it's not at all a biopic."

The movie will release on February 24, 2017. It features Kangana Ranaut who plays the role of a seductress, Julia, and Saif Ali Khan plays the role of a filmmaker who falls in love with her. Shahid Kapoor is the soldier named Nawab Malik, who falls in love with Julia during a train journey.
