Pakistani superstars such as Fawad Khan, Ali Zafar, Mahira Khan, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Imran Abbas and Mawra Hocane are among a host of Pakistani artists who have made India their home away from home. Within days of the Uri attack, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena has threatened Pakistani actors to leave India within 48 hours. The threat came from Amey Khopkar of MNS Chitrapat Sena.
“We give a 48 hour deadline to Pakistani actors and artists to leave India or MNS will push them out,” said Amey Khopkar in a statement. This is not for the first that political parties have threatened Pakistani artists to leave India.
"Pakistani kalakaar toh maar khaayenge hi, saath mein jo yahan producer/ director hain unko bhi peetenge." added Amey Khopkar.
India has blamed Pakistan for the Uri attacks; this is an outcome of the same heightened tensions between India and Pakistan after 18 Army personnel have been killed by the terrorists at an Army camp in Uri.
Fawad Khan, in particular, has a number of big-ticket Bollywood projects in hand. Will the MNS threat affect their films and careers?
