Oops! Pahlaj Nihalani appeals to postpone movie releases

The demonetization that was announced on November 8, 2016 has surely affected the Bollywood industry majorly. Not only the common man is suffering, it seems the B-Town releases are also sailing in the same boat. As per the recent developments, Pahlaj Nihalani has appealed for a delayed release for the upcoming movies in 2016, due to demonetization.

According to the recent reports, Pahlaj Nahalani, President, Movie Image Makers has written a letter to all the filmmakers appealing them to postpone the release of their movies to the next year. Pahlaj Nihalani has mainly stressed on the effects of demonetization and how shortage and unavailability of cash had resulted in poor box-office. The larger section of the audience is avoiding buying tickets online and most of the single screen cinemas are dependent on cash sales.

Oops! Pahlaj Nihalani appeals to postpone movie releases

The Chief of censor board, Pahlaj Nihalani quoted, “I appeal that all the film releases for the rest of November and December 2016 should now be postponed. Since December 30 is the deadline by when we expect the economy to re-start working smoothly, it may be wise for all film producers to consider not releasing their films before the situation reverts to normal. Only then we can expect a healthy interest in films to be revived.”

Well, this man has a valid point! The delay demanded by him might help in growth. The demonetization of old currency has genuinely affected the box-office collection of last three major releases. Be it Rock On 2, Force 2 or Tum Bin 2, the shortage of money has majorly reduced the daily gross collections of these films at the box-office.

We would love to hear from you on the same. What do you think about the delay on releases and demonetization of currency? Let us know in the comments section below!
