Salman Khan has done it again. With a new movie, a new box office record has been created. Salman Khan and Anushka Sharma starrer ‘Sultan’ was released on a partial holiday on Wednesday and still it managed to rake in Rs. 36.54 crore on its opening day at the domestic box office.

Prem Ratan Dhan Payo

Salman’s Diwali 2015 release, Sooraj Barjatya’s family drama Prem Ratan Dhan Payo (PRDP), made Rs.40.35 crore from 5,600 screens last November. The movie hit the silver screens on 12 November 2015 and made gave us the hot  chemistry of Sonam Kapoor with Salman for the first time. The movie is still in the records and seems to be unbeatable.

 

Sultan

‘Sultan’ has emerged as the biggest opener of 2016 and also the biggest Eid grosser of all times, shattering the records of Shahrukh Khan's ‘Chennai Express’, Salman's ‘Kick’, ‘Ek Tha Tiger’ and ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’. The opening day collection of ‘Sultan’ is Rs. 36.54 crore, which is the third highest of all times.

The flick released on July 6’ 2016, and is directed by Ali Abbas Zafar and is about a wrestler’s journey, Sultan Ali Khan, an ageing small-town wrestler from Haryana, looking for a comeback by defeating all odds staked up against him. With this movie, the female lead of the star, Anushka Sharma too is in a great position. The film is now her biggest opener ever, hence going way past P.K. [Rs. 26.63 crore].

 

Ek Tha Tiger

The movie which saw the magical chemistry of the exes of Bollywood, Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif, garnered much appreciation across the world, in terms of reviews as well as box-office collections. Released on August 15, 2012, Kabir Khan directorial collected Rs. 32.93 crore, making it Salman Khan’s fourth highest opener.

 

Bajrangi Bhaijaan

The story of a man who makes sure that a Pakistani girl, who was lost in his country India, reaches her parents touched the hearts of many. Released on July 17, 2015, Kabir Khan’s directorial flick became one of the best films of 2015 and grabbed many awards too. We saw the unbelievably sweet chemistry of Salman Khan and Kareena Kapoor, and were left mesmerized. The movie collected  Rs. 27.25 crore on its first day and had set the records.

 

Kick

Salman’s Eid 2014 release, Kick, produced and directed by Sajid Nadiadwala, had raked in Rs.26.50 crore from 5,000 screens on its opening day. Packed with some action scenes, romance, and dance moves, ‘Kick’ was an entertainer of its own kind.  The mind-blowing ‘Jodi’ of Salman Khan and Jacqueline Fernandez set the screens on fire in the movie.
