Khamoshiyan movie review – Not a typical Horror Mystery

A tempting beauty, an evil husband and a young novelist melting in the dark shadows of beautiful Kashmir, Khamoshiyan brings all the elements of filmmaking into cameras and microphones to bring out a complete package that terrifies and spooks the horror chromosome inside you. That fact that this movie is termed as comeback movie of horror cinema is its plot that isn’t predictable or obnoxious. The performances too, in one way or other, are natural and don’t feel over the top. All in all, it isn’t a typical horror movie that makes you feel cheated after the climax. After a series of debacle, horror cinema is back in B’town. It’s not that this is the most eerie experience ever, but it has the kind of punches that are far better than slow-moving doors, sudden screaming voice and sexual scenes that we are habitual to see in a typical Horror mystery.

The Goodie-Go Points: Without a single drop of doubt, this movie is an ocean of good things that makes up a horror movie. The screenplay by Vikram Bhatt is well structured without gapping loopholes. Karan justifies the direction with almost a new kind of skills that is rare in Bollywood. The best part however is the chemistry between Ali-Sapna and Gurmeet-Sapna. They speak volumes with their eyes and a thousand words through intimacy. One has to mention the devilish smile Gurmeet carries, which is both charming and horrifying at the same moment.

The Bad and the Ugly: The first half is almost engaging, with characters settling in quietly and making the story a tad-bit better. But post interval, when the memento for climax is about to happen, the director seems to be in a hurry by reducing few essential key points. As an audience, it looks quite unfinished and incomplete. We ourselves felt that in order to show a happy ending, filmmakers tried wrapping it quicker than we thought.

Bollypedia Says…: If you enjoyed Ragini MMS, Alone or any of the horror movies in recent times, then this is the Holy Grail for all you. Go on and enjoy the movie with some of the finest spooky scenes.

  • Alia Bhatt is the sweetheart of Bollywood. The actress is friends with everyone in the industry, and the whole film industry loves her. It could be the perks of being the amazing person she seems to be. But, she has many people that do not belong to Bollywood, or her family, that are constantly looking out for her. They are all her best friends, she has attained over her lifetime.
  • Akshay Kumar has been one actor that, even in his 50s, does not look that old. The actor has maintained a physique that no actor of his age has been able to maintain. He is fit, and the whole country takes inspiration from him. But, one thing we forget about the actor is the various looks he has kept throughout his career. So we celebrate the different styles that we have seen the actor in.
  • 2017 might have been a bad year for Bollywood, considering the bad movies, and the scarce Box Office collections that the movies made. Also, the controversies surrounding the movies this year, did them more harm than good. But, there are still a few movies from 2017, that we would watch again someday.
  • We have all heard struggle stories of our favourite celebrities, some have been waiters, and some might have been junior artists. But, too many have been backup dancers. From a field that has potentially more than a million people in it, these stars shone so brightly, that they became the cream of Bollywood. These stars started their journey with dancing behind superstars and are now working with them.
  • Bollywood is filled with people, who excel at acting. But other than acting and the storyline, there is another thing that makes our films blockbusters. Dancing! Bollywood movies are filled with dancers. Some dance like they have two left feet, but some, dance like there is no tomorrow. These are the dancers, we are paying a tribute to today.
  • Madame Tussauds is a gem in the age of modern museums, and the capital has become the lucky holder of this gem. Delhiites have become a part of the lucky few, who can now visit these lifelike celebrity wax statues. But, our favourite part is the amazing resemblance, and in some cases the disparity, of these wax figurines.
