Two biggies out on August 12! Check out who wins at the Box Office

It was a big day at the Box Office on August 12’ 2016 as we saw the ‘Rustom’ vs ‘Mohenjo Daro’ clash. We can also say that the superstars of Bollywood Akshay Kumar and Hrithik Roshan had a face off at the box-office.

‘Mohenjo Daro’ helmed by Ashutosh Gowarikar is a period love story set during the days when the Indus Valley Civilisation was at its peak. Hrithik Roshan and debutante Pooja Hegde star in the film. While, ‘Rustom’, directed by Tinu Suresh Desai features Akshay Kumar, IlleanaD’cruz and Esha Gupta and is based on the Nanavati murder case.

As the young Sarman, Hrithik Roshan shone in ‘Mohenjo Daro’. Viewers have said that they were in awe of his acting skills, and the action sequences too were breath-taking. Likewise, viewers also sung praises for Akshay Kumar in ‘Rustom’. As the disciplined and honourable naval commander being tried for the murder of his wife’s lover, Akshay managed to strike a chord with the viewers.

And everyone must be waiting with bated breath to know who wins the box office battle. And guess who wins?

After much wait, the official numbers are out at the box office, and ‘Rustom’ is a clear winner. The flick has collected Rs 14.11 crore, thereby becoming the 4th highest opener of the year. On the other hand, ‘Mohenjo Daro’ has garnered just half amount as ‘Rustom’. Its first day collection stands out to be Rs 8.87 crore.

‘Rustom’ is Akshay Kumar’s third film of 2016 and ‘Mohenjo Daro’ is Hrithik Roshan’s first film in two years. The budget of the films varies widely. ‘Rustom’ was made at the cost of around Rs. 50 crore while ‘Mohenjo Daro’s’ budget is almost double. And add a sum of around 10 to 15 crore per film for promotions.

It seems like the makers of ‘MohenjoDaro’ will have to suffer a great loss if this collection doesn’t go up in the upcoming days.

Luckily, thanks to the Independence Day falling on Monday, both films get the benefit of an extended holiday weekend and will end up earning better in the process.
