Top 11 worst Bollywood song remakes of 2016 which were an utter disaster

Bollywood is known for it’s peppy and upbeat music tracks which may or may not have any relevance to the story. And when it comes to recreating the old super-duper hit songs, well, it becomes an unforgiving disaster. Many composers almost slaughter the original songs with their so called ‘peppy number’. For example, take the song ‘Dheere Dheere’ composed by the great Honey Singh, who massacred the old classic, and we had to face major atrocities with the soulful song “Teri Fariyad” in the movie, ‘Tum Bin 2”. And just recently, “Humma Humma” from OK Jaanu which was completely ruined by Badshah. I’m sure A.R. Rahman would have been forced to agree to it on the gunpoint.

So, have a look at those catastrophic recreated songs of 2016 which, you would agree with me, have literally KILLED it.

Humma Humma (OK Jaanu)

A Bollywood chartbuster during the 90’s, “Humma Humma” from the movie Bombay is still fresh in our minds, but with this recent updation by Badshah, it seems Bollywood has ran out of creativity. The remake of Humma Humma is done for the movie ‘Ok Jaanu’ featuring Shraddha Kapoor and Aditya Roy Kapur and it’s a slam on their own faces.

Such a death of a classic song!

Sara Zamana Haseeno Ka Deewana (Kaabil)

Hrithik Roshan’s Kaabil also has an item number ‘Haseeno Ka Deewana’ which is the remake of Amitabh Bachchan’s famous song ‘Sara Zamana’ from Yaarana (1981). Although the new version is trending on YouTube, but the song is a tragic disaster if you compare it with the old one. Singers Raftaar and Payal Dev have really disappointed the listeners with the song.

Our cinema industry is in a dire need of improvement!

Teri Fariyad (Tum Bin 2)

The soulful song by the Ghazal maestro, Jagjit Singh in ‘Tum Bin’ (2001) has converted into a soul-less song after 15 years in the recent movie, ‘Tum Bin 2’. What’s more disappointing is that the beautiful voice Rekha Bharadwaj was responsible for marring the beauty of the song.

Song busted!

Maahi Ve (Wajah Tum Ho)

The sexy pole dance of Malaika Arora in the 2002 release, ‘Kaante’ is still fresh in our minds, but it could not hide away from the vulture eyes of the music composers. They almost ate the song and gave us a highly disappointing item number. Worst still, Zarine Khan has added in the hatred-ness of the song.

Not happening!

Pal Pal Dil Ke Paas (Wajah Tum Ho)

This song will surely mark the descent of the legendary Kishore Kumar’s soul and give a slap on the movie maker’s faces. ‘Wajah Tum Ho’ movie has so easily ruined the beauty of the original 1975 song. We couldn’t take the pain of watching a beautiful song getting hit by the movie.

Melodies or no melodies? It’s gone forever

Resham Ka Rumaal (Great Grand Masti)

The very famous wedding song ‘Resham Ka Rumaal’ is another song from 2016 which didn’t get justice. The ‘Great Grand Masti’ composers, Shaarib & Toshi wasted their time in remaking this absolutely rubbish song.

Why? Oh why?

Gumnaam Hai Koi (1920 London)

So, Bollywood always found it difficult to make a horror flick, and now they have the rights to de-horrify one of the most beautiful old songs ‘Gumnaam Hai Koi’ by Lata Mangeshkar, which used to give us chills. 1920 London couldn’t even come close in making a fine remake of the original song.

Horror ki aisi ki taisi!

Rail Gaddi (Tutak Tutak Tutiya)

The famous Punjabi song, ‘Raill Gaddi’ can also go incredibly wrong. Yes, the Prabhudeva starring movie, ‘Tutak Tutak Tutiya’ made a remake of this song and it is horrible. The music composers have very easily raped the original song and destroyed the ‘Rail Gaddi’ with the audio as well as the video.

Punjabi songs are also not safe.

Rock Tha Party (Rocky Handsome)

The famous cover of the lead band ‘Bombay Rockers’ created a sensation with this pop song in 2007. Rocky Handsome killed the beauty of the audio and the video too. Nora Fatehi performed her worst with the dance and her stupid expressions in the song. See for yourself!

Smash the party!

Oye Oye (Azhar)

The original ‘Tridev’ song was in the chartbusters for very long and people used to love the song. “Oye Oye” from Azhar is another example of what not to do while recreating an old song. The new version will make you feel sad and you will instantly respect the original one more and more.

That’s how we can ruin an old classic!

Khallas (Veerappan)

Another Sharib and Toshi creativity which was badly recreated in 2016. The original song was from the movie ‘Company’ which was beautifully sung by the legend, Asha Bhosle. “Khallas” remake could not even come close to the original and Zarine Khan has simply justified the status of the song “Khallas”!

And thus, the song is nailed and crucified forever!

  • 2017 might have been a bad year for Bollywood, considering the bad movies, and the scarce Box Office collections that the movies made. Also, the controversies surrounding the movies this year, did them more harm than good. But, there are still a few movies from 2017, that we would watch again someday.

These stars started their journey with dancing behind superstars and are now working with them.
  • Bollywood is filled with people, who excel at acting. But other than acting and the storyline, there is another thing that makes our films blockbusters. Dancing! • In Bollywood, there was a time, when supporting actors did not receive the appreciation they do now. They were looked at as mere pawns to make the lead look good. But times have changed, and talented artists have taken these so called side roles, and evolved them into the backbone of the films. They are now taking the limelight, and sometimes even overshadow the leads.
