Befikre: Live, Love and Kiss Carefree

Befikre Movie Review: Live, Love and Kiss Carefree

Plot

This Friday is all about one single word, “Carefree” and Befikre has rightly contemplated the word. Aditya Chopra’s Befikre features Ranveer Singh and Vaani Kapoor. Set in Paris, Befikre has quite confidently explained the meaning of living a free-spirited-no-regrets life in this modern era. It has a joyful and fresh story which will make you smile at every instance; and Ranveer’s extraordinary high-on-life character is definitely on the top. The story is about two people who belong to the same roots, but have lived in a completely different lifestyle. Dharam Gulati (Ranveer Singh) is a typical Delhiite who hails from Karol Bagh and has come to France to help his friend in promoting their restaurant; and Shyra Gill (Vaani Kapoor) is a typical French woman whose parents are Indians and own a restaurant. She is a French tour guide. The story runs in between numerous flashbacks and present day scenarios to explain the pre and post relationship happenings. They go through a series of makeups and breakups, but eventually realize the true meaning of love.

Thumbs Up Moments

Ranveer and Vaani’s acting is over the top and they have portrayed amazing chemistry with each other. The on-time punch lines are hilarious and you’ll die laughing at many scenes. In the movie, Ranveer linked relationships with mutual funds and said that the mutual funds are subjected to market risks. Ranveer-Vaani dare each other all the time and you won’t believe how far they went while challenging each other throughout the movie. Although the storyline is quite predictable but Dharam and Shyra will win your hearts. You gotta see it for yourself!

Thumbs Down Moments

The first half of the movie was a bit slow and the story was only about kisses and boozing and make out sessions. But don’t be disheartened because that is just to give a build-up for the second half. Also, the movie has a lot of French culture which might be a bit monotonous for people. The rounds of endless kissing and making out scenes might become uncomfortable to the traditional thinkers.

Direction

Aditya Chopra’s comeback with this movie is superb and unconventional. He has come on screen after 8 long years. The cinematography was breathtaking, especially when they shot on the majestic Eiffel Tower, the epitome of love. Aditya has once again proved that no one but he can justify a Rom-Com genre in a beautiful manner, especially in Bollywood. Befikre is very engaging and explains each phase of emotions perfectly. Vaani’s costumes gave an exclusive French feeling and she looked stunning in them.

Music

Vishal-Shekhar’s amazing music composition is the soul of the story. The songs are very situational which helped in binding the viewers completely into the movie. We already are a fan of the music album of Befikre and the Ranveer-Vaani duo were stupendous in dancing as well. Each and every song was beautifully sung as well as the inclusion of a French touch in the songs was an icing on the cake.

Verdict

All in all, Aditya Chopra’s Befikre under the Yash Raj banner is a must watch for everyone, especially those who have forgotten how to live their lives carefree and with no regrets. Befikre explains very decently the importance of love, friendship and family. So guys, go Befikre and watch it now!
